Getting used to it… and inspired by it…

Hi all,

A week has passed by without an update, so it is time to keep you all informed. This weeks update includes of course some running updates, some triatlon pictures as well as some side thoughts.

This Sunday was the moment for me to be reintroduced as a trainer at Loopgroep Bunnik. I had to take care of group 3, the fastest group. As my current status is still “injured”, it seemed a bit strange to be the trainer. Most people did not understand it when they saw me in my jeans on Sunday morning 8 am. A short explanation clarified everything and I jumped on my bike to take care of the training. The weather was lovely, the route was perfect (as I picked it myself). It made me feel jealous again, that the others could run, but along the way I started to accept that it is as it is and that I should enjoy it being on my bike with them having fun. So I switched my mind and we had a lot of fun together!

After the training we (Simone, Lilian and I) went to Aalsmeer, to cheer for Maarten and Alex how dared to start at a 1/8 triatlon. We missed their swimming, but we saw them jumping on their bikes. They rode 3 rounds, so we could cheer for them a couple of times. We went to the running track, though we were a bit confused to see them running. Did they start their 2nd round this quick, or were they really slow, that we could see them during their first round? It turned out to be the last, as their shoes were not at the place where they switched between running and cycling. It is best to read what it did with them on their own blogs…though the best pictures are on this one… Later, Maarten fell and did not finish. Alex finished in a good 1:21:26.

Yesterday evening we had a meeting for the Alpha course, which we are setting up in Bunnik. This first year is meant for insiders of our church, to get used to the program itself and to decide later on whether and how we want to open it up for other people. As I got inspired and turned to faith during my Alpha course, it was clear-cut for me to be involved in the Alpha course. We have an inspired group of 5 people who want to lead the course and hopefully we will get a lot of people who are interested in the course. The Alpha course is popular around the world for a couple of years and people are proud that they did it, as you can see one of my favourite Discovery Channel heroes in an add for the Alpha Course.

So if you are interested in Christianity, or not totally clear about your opinion, just check whether there is an Alpha course near to you. It actually works for people who feel Christian, but are still a bit insecure about some parts of their religion, as I was in that state before I took part in an Alpha course. Inspire each other and enjoy the things you can do, instead of longing for more. Accept your weaknesses (as for me my injury) and enjoy your strong features (as for me that I still can enjoy others having fun with running, instead of being jealous)! I hope to see many of you this Saturday with Bunniks Mooiste, come to run, or to enjoy to see others running! Moreover, check the cartoon (in Dutch) and you are sure that you will come and enjoy it!

  1. Thanks for the great pictures and your support during the triatlon! Maybe you could write an e-mail to enthuse the youthclub about the alphacourse and draw them attention to the presentation at the ’startzondag’.

  2. Thnx for the great support! While I’m still holding up my leg, I hope I can take revenche very, very soon. Being injured makes me a bit sad, but that’s the same for you, I guess! :S

  3. @alex is taking care of…
@maarten yeps, I know how it feels… just keep your head up and smile and applaud for the others!
