Dear all,
I am addicted to a couple of things. Running is one of them, but there is something else that I love to do, travelling around and work in a voluntary project where people need help. Our church has an active youth and we will organise another trip to do voluntary work this summer, destination Fintinele, Romania.
Organizing such a trip like this involves:
- creating of a group of people who want to join;
- finding a proper project;
- creating a travelling plan;
- etc.
In Romadopt we found a good partner, as they have a project in Fintinele, Romania. They own a farm in this small village in Romania and they want to use this farm to learn the local citizens how they can improve their profit by making small, sustainable agriculture changes. (Yes, we are talking about agricultural changes that are common knowledge for our farmers, but something the local people in Romania did not know, and what they only believe when they will actually see it happen in front of them) This will create a future for the locals and has the potential to lift them out of their desperate situation.
We will help them by reconstructing a barn to transform it into a local educational centre. We will also organize a child programme, to give them two wonderful weeks this summer! We hope and believe that this project can change the lives of these poor Romanians, who are actually already part of OUR European Union…. More information will follow on our website: http://www.DutchCrew.com. (where you still can read what we did in 2008 in Malawi)
Of course, you all understand, this is another shout to raise money, something I left out on purpose in the small list above. The more we raise, the more can be done with it (yes, all the money goes directly to the project). My brother started an action to raise money, and more actions will follow…. You can sponsor Maarten for every kilometre he will run between today and the 13th of July (the day we will probably leave for Romania). So grab this chance, to help us raise money, to help the Romanians to create a sustainable future, and to help Maarten to stay fit and motivated to run…
So follow this link, fill out the form and I will be grateful!
Steven
Ps: I did put in some money per kilometre as well. It would be unfair to call you to arms and not to be involved myself…

Maar wat doe je zelf?!
Ik heb al bedacht om mijn trainersvergoedingen over te maken, wat neerkomt op 10 euro per training…
Thnx bro for promoting my fundraising and also putting in some cents per kilometer! I hope this will bring in the first couple of hundred euros for the project!
Maarten, the first (almost) couple of hundred euros is already in. We have 50% of the oliebollenactie!
And I have the correct link to our Fintinele / Fantanele at Google Maps. Click on my name.
@Wouter: I did mean my first hundred euros. But all fundraising is good! I expect that I can make it up to 1000 euro with my running!
