Snow, Sleep and Sunshine (and Skating = Romania Project Update 2)

Author: steven | Filed under: hardlopen

Dear friends,

This weekend was a weekend of extremes. This Friday I was the whole day busy outside delivering letters, for the last time. I was totally wasted afterwards, as it was cold, rainy/snowy and very slippery. I was exhausted and really lazy when I finally got back home. On Saturday, I got up early to do the usual weekly shopping. The rest of the day I was lazy, to compensate for Friday. But…I had to go outside again, as my friend celebrated his birthday in his new apartment in Leidsche Rijn. Alex, Bastiaan and I went by bike through the heavy snow, that fell and also through the snow that already turned the road into a perfect iceskating spot. We survived it and enjoyed his birthday, but we had to go back by bike as well…

We went outside, heard a huge blast and saw a frightening flash… NOOO! Thunder…. and suddenly loads of hail dropped down… Hell was unleashed! But after 5 minutes everything was gone. No thunder, no hail, a nice trip back to Bunnik, to Susan’s place, as her mum turned 50, so we had another party to go to!

I went home tired, around half past one, and went to bed and… I missed my wake-up alarm and had to hurry Sundaymorning, as I was the trainer. I found my phone in my bed, so I probably had switched it off, though I cannot remember it. My dad brought me to Station Driebergen-Zeist, where we started with the forest-training. We were with a small group of 6 and went into the forest. It was amazing: fresh snow, a hilly terrain, a sunny morning and motivated, happy fellow-runners!

So it was a great start of the day and another moment to collect money for Romania. So far, I collected already 100 euro only by doing my regular training sessions!

For veryone interested in sports… and especially ice skating (or everyone with a good heart and also for people who like to have an excuse to meet up with nice people), put in your agenda:
